“Nepalese Women Annapurna Expedition ~ 2011” t
Dear Friends from Uniting People,
Many greetings from EWN-Pokhara, Nepal. It beings long time that we are not updating our progress regarding rock and Ice climbing. I think it is better to inform you where we are now with your generous support.
We have a natural climbing rock behind our office, 30 minutes walk on the hill. We are providing regular training for women trainees. Women who are lack of opportunities and the education, lived in the mountains are benefiting from this program. They are physically fit, mentally strong and flexible, walking up and down on the ridges was the best practice, then when they are learning technical knowhow to be a professional climbers. Now we have 10 best women rock climbers, many are following their footsteps.
Another great news of our Ice climbing is on 31 May, 2011: EWN’s “Nepalese Women Annapurna Expedition ~ 2011” team- Ms. Nirma Rai, Ms. Shantikala Rai, Ms. Manu Gurung, and Ms. Saraswati B.K have reached the summit of Annapurna IV (7525m) along with their team of Sherpas yesterday morning at 5:15am Nepal time. These brave women are the FIRST Nepalese women to step foot in the Annapurnas!!! EWN team is grateful to our sponsors, program partners, individual donors, EWN technical trainers, 3 Sisters Adventure staff, Nepalese government, national and local media, and all our well wishers without whom this SUCCESS would not been possible!!! Congratulations all ![]()
Please find attached photo and success outcome of this program.
We are ever grateful with our supporters. We wish to continue our venture to empower more women in future.
Kind regards,
Lucky Chhetri
