TV Malawi awarded Dorothy, a Form 3 student, for her determination to stay in school
On December 30, 2009, Television Malawi presented its first "Our People, Our Pride" Awards, recognizing 11 individuals for their great contribution and achievement within the society of Malawi. Dorothy, Form 3 student at the Jacaranda School for Orphans, was awarded for her determination to stay in school, against all odds. As you will see in the clip, Dorothy also worked after school to help take care of her sick mother. Dorothy received several prices that night, including a bicycle, and health insurance for her mother, her younger brother, and for herself.
