Message and support from Lorraine (France) to ASDRP

Merci. Lorraine
Dear Team ASDRP en Cameroon: creation of a multi skills center. I have decided to send you part of my savings (2 x 500€ between now and next year) becasue this project responds to the the difficulties we encountared when we worked in Senegal a few years ago: How to educate young people locally so that they can create their own (local) activity thus avoiding a rural exodus and how to allow young women to be equally involved in certain professional areas. An additional decisive element for me is to see that the project team and leader are local people.
Thank you. Lorraine (France)

Dear Larraine,

We are so happy to have people like you. As you rightly said, self-employment is one of the solutions to rural exodus and increasing crime wave. Through our training centre we have been able to gather a few young girls and boys who would have been idling doing nothing.

With your donation, we will be able procure more equipment for the centre so that more youth can be recruited into the centre.

Our next step is to initiate another department in the centre in computer studies which will recruit both youth and adults.

On behalf of ASDRP team, I say thank you a hundredfold and may God Almighty bless you and your family.

Dear Tatiana,

Happy to meet you on this project platform. As concerns our project, “The Training Centre”, we are really achieving our objectives. So far we have fourteen (14) children in the tailoring workshop and four (04) children in the hairdressing workshop.

Fron the 17-19 of December 2009, I, the President and the Vilage Project Facilitator, conducted and evaluation of training in the centre. Our findings were as follows:
- All eighteen (18) trainees and two (02) trainers are active, serious and duty conscious;
- Over 90% of trainees can confortably work with little or no supervision;
- Most of the beneficiaries prefer tailoring to haidressing increasing our need for sewing machines and other tailoring accessories;
- The little money we make from the workshop is not enough to sustain the running cost like paying the trainers every month, paying electricity bills, rents etc. Thus we still need some financial assistance.

As concerns the donation made by Lorraine, we wish to propose this: sending goods especially when they are few can be costly because we have a funny clearing system at the port. We would like to propose that you wait for the second part of the offer and if any additional offer, you can then tranfer the total amount to us so that we can buy additional equipment.

We are anxiously waiting for support in computers so that we can start the computer department of the training centre any time from now. The village population will be happy to have training in computer awareness and associated services.

In addition to our various projects, we gather orphans every Christmas season donate gifts to them in the form of food, soap, clothing and school material. We have been organising such occasions since Dec. 2006. In our next communication, we will send to you pictures of the last event which took place on the 22 of Dec. 2009.

Happy New Year to you and your team.
