DTC: Summary Actions / Resumen Acciones 2009
For approximately a decade, DTC has been collaborating in the mobile schools project in Cavite, and it was the dream of Efren and the whole team to succeed in initiating their activities in the Manila area. In collaboration with Starfund, UnitingPeople has succeeded in co-financing, the amount of $ 10,060, to set up the mobile schools (K-4 : Kariton-Klasrum-Klinik-Kantin) in the Manila slums, also with the local support of AkoMismo and Club8586.
The need to get established in Manila was urgent because of the considerable damages caused by 4 major typhoons at year’s end. The joint funding by UnitingPeople, Startfund NY, AkoMismo and Club8586 allowed the initiation of the project.
In November, UnitingPeople supported the voting campaign for the CNN Award, where Efren was awarded the CNN Hero of the Year - 2009 Prize. The Award funds will contribute to be reinforcements of existing projects in Cavite and the inauguration of the Manila Centre.
Resumen acciones 2009:
Desde hace aproximadamente una década DTC está trabajando con el proyecto de escuelas móviles en Cavite y era el deseo de Efrén y de todo el equipo de lograr iniciar sus actividades en los barrios de Manila. Uniting People en cooperación con Starfund ha logrado cofinanciar con 10.060$ la puesta en marcha de las escuelas móviles (K4 Kariton – Klasrum – Klinik - Kantin) en los barrios de chabolas de Manila, contando además con el apoyo local de AkoMismo y el Club8586.
La necesidad de instalarse en Manila apremiaba al producirse daños considerables en los barrios de Manila tras los cuatro tifones a finales del año. Con la financiación de Uniting People, Startfund NY, AkoMismo y Club8586 se lograba la financiación para comenzar el proyecto en Manila.
En el mes de noviembre Uniting People apoyó la campaña de votación para el premio CNN, en el que Efrén resultó ser el Heroe CNN 2009. Los fondos que se han obtenido de este premio ayudarán a reforzar los proyectos existentes en Cavite y a inaugurar el centro de Manila.
