Earthquake in Haiti
Thank you so much for thinking about us.
Abricots felt the quake but had very little damage. Only some shaking. It was dark when someone got
in touch with us. I have not been able to communicate with the staff because the cell phones are not working.
Mica was in Jeremie which is only 27 kms from Abricots and is fine.
For what is going on in Port-au-Prince I am constantly watching the news. Port-au-Prince is devastated.
A large number of houses have crumbled down and the ones that are still standing are unhabitable. The
people are sleeping in the yard by fear of another aftermath quake. We are slowly hearing from family
members and friends many are okay but some did not make it or are still missing. The extend of the
death and damages will be known later.
For what is going on in Abricots although the earthquake did not cause much damage we think
that the after-effect will. Food may become scarce and anything that comes from Port-au-Prince
will no longer be available. However this region has been lucky.
Thank you for the good news. I hope that we will receive support from Don du Choeur.
I am watching the news right now and there was just an aftershock. I hope that this will stop soon.
Thank you so much for your thoughts.
Regards from Chantal.
