Project Progress

Our project, "Multipurpose Training Centre", was conceived to support some of our ongoing projects like "Sponsor Orphans". We are very happy to announce that the children undergoing training in this centre are doing well.

The project has acted as co-sponsor to "Sponsor Orphans" for the academic year 2009/2010 by taking care of uniforms for formal school children and training children that was part of the project, "Sponsor Orphans". This support reduced the project budget thereby reducing the amount demanded from grant donors.

It might interest you to know about the project "Sponsor Orphans". This project was conceived in 2006 with the main objectives of:
-supporting orphans and other less privileged in primary and secondary schools;
-letting school drop-outs, especially girls, to acquire special skill training (tailoring and hairdressing).
It consisted of paying the children's school fees and apprenticeship fees, proving uniforms and books to the children. It is actually this project that inspired us to create a training centre in order to reduce our reliance on grant donors for support.

The training centre is a workshop of choice for most young people in the village since training is free and sewing and hairdo charges are very moderate compared to other workshops.

For the moment, we have suspended enrolment of new trainees since we don't have enough machines. Admission will continue as soon as we procure additional machines especially in the tailoring workshop.

Best regards,
Kuma Paul
