Latest update from She Hope, Kashmit

Dear friends of Hope Disability Centre:
The Hope Centre has been closed for a week now, due to strict curfews and strikes. But the Hope Centre still has been very busy. Sami has taken the Hope Centre ambulance into Srinagar, and has been working in collaboration with SKIMS (Shaire Kashmir Institute of Medical Science), and SMHS hospitals. He provided ambulance services for injured people to pick up and drop off at the hospital or at their homes. He transported people to and from 3 districts in Kashmir: Srinagar, Ganderbal, and Baramulla.
The Hope Centre has also helped to provide meals at the hospital, through funding to buy food. With all the shops closed, and all transportation stopped, there was no way for the caregivers to eat.

Photos are attached from the work last week.

Now, with the many deaths (over 100) due to flooding in Leh, north of Srinagar, Sami is going there to assess the situation, with support from Handicap International.

Next week if the strike continues , Hope Centre will continue its ambulance services, with the Hope Centre driver doing the driving, rather than Sami himself.

If anyone would like to help, the civilians who are injured need antibiotics, which the hospitals do not provide. If you would like to join the Hope Disability Centre in providing support to civilians injured in the conflict, please e-mail me.

Kind regards,
Diane Emerson
